Seattle MESA Hosts its First Open House

Seattle MESA’s first open house was, by all accounts, a successful endeavor by the Seattle MESA staff to introduce themselves to the UW Community and to recruit new volunteers.  On the afternoon of Tuesday, February 24, Seattle MESA hosted the students, faculty and staff of the University of Washington, MESA partners, members of the surrounding community, and local high school students in Schmitz Hall.

The goal of this affair was to showcase the multiple, STEM focused programs that are sponsored by Seattle MESA.  Attendees were able to learn about Saturday Academies, MESA Day, the MESA Club, the In-Class Model, Summer Math, and the Tutoring Program.  The open house was also an outreach opportunity for Seattle MESA.  This was an occasion for potential volunteers to meet with current and past volunteers, as well as the staff and partners of Seattle MESA, to learn about their experiences with MESA and the value that MESA has in the community and with the students and families they serve.  The panoramic view of Schmitz Hall’s fifth floor was a great backdrop for the conversations and networking that took place that afternoon.

Seattle MESA wants to recognize their staff for a job well done! A huge “Thank you!” to all the current and former volunteers who came to share about their experiences in Seattle MESA and to all the attendees present at the event.
